Sanmar Chain for mooring GAZA FSO Libya

Sanmar Chain International has been awarded a contract to supply mooring, tether chains and shackles to EMAS AMC for a new FSO (GAZA) to replace the existing (SLOUG) FSO in the offshore field ‘Bouri’ located 120km North West of Tripoli, Libya.

The FSO is to be moored in in the offshore field “BOURI” which is located 120km North West of Tripoli, which consists of a central processing platform DP4 and a satellite platform DP3 in water depths of 170m. The mooring system arrangement consists of a cantilever turret mooring with nine (9) legs arranged in three (3) clusters with three (3) mooring lines per cluster (3×3 mooring lines). Each mooring is connected to the FSO via a chain stopper at its upper end and to a driven pile through a pile shackle at the lower end. SCI is supplying nine (9) legs of 124mm diameter of Grade R4 studless, together with the shackles.

As well as the mooring chain SCI is supplying the six (6) legs of 102mm diameter of Grade R4 studless together with the shackles for the mid-water arch tether chain.

EMAS AMC is responsible in providing the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) of the new offshore facilities. These will consist of a single point (SPM) system, a floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO), a new subsea pipeline with a tie-in to DP4 platform and the new FSO, as well as a separate power cable from DP4 to the new FSO.
